You can use some of the questions in the document below, or you can write your own thing. I'm looking for more than a page (single-spaced and hand written), but no more than 2 pages to be written in your journal. You will have all day tomorrow to work on it, and it is due Wednesday at the beginning of class.

Monday, Oct. 6th:
Today you will be using the class to do some internet research on a topic that we will be discussing over the next few days: Assisted Suicide.
We will be looking at a case in Canada in the early 90s of a woman diagnosed with ALS (Sue Rodriguez) who fought for her legal right to die. As her disease progressed, she knew she would eventually be unable to commit suicide without assistance, so she took her case to the Supreme Court to try and legalize physician-assisted suicide.
In order to prepare for our class discussions, today you will be reading and making some notes in your notebook about the following topics:
1. Assisted Suicide (What is it? What are some places that it is legal? What are the guidelines in places where it is legal? What might some of the consequences be of making it legal?)
2. Sue Rodriguez (Who is she? What is she famous for? Outline her story.)
3. ALS disease (What are the symptoms? Treatments?)
Do some Google searches to find information. Keep the notes in your notebook and be prepared to share what you found tomorrow in class.
You can also watch some of the following clips (preferably with headphones):
